Summer Programs

Every summer, we host a Book Club for our learners. We understand the importance of continuing one's education even during the summer. Book Club lasts six weeks and is intended to develop the learner's love for reading. Sessions are held on Tuesday and Wednesday of each week and are two hours long. On Tuesday, we read and on Wednesday, we carry-out activities based on what read in class on Tuesday. As an organization, we strongly believe in the importance of reiterating material taught to students in the classroom through more engaging practices like classroom discussion, word search puzzles based on the lesson and watching videos also based on the lesson. During our summer 2018 Book Club participants learned about the life of civil rights activist, Fannie Lou Hamer.
